Unlimited Power in Prayer
There’s no limit to what God can do when we pray, but the key to effective prayer is the power working within us—the Holy Spirit.
We have to learn how to cultivate, understand, yield to, and follow His guidance in our prayers.
Praying from God’s Promises
One powerful way the Spirit leads us is by prayer grounded in God’s Word. You take God’s promise and turn it back to Him, saying, “God, do what You promised.”
David did this in 1 Chronicles 17:23. God had promised him an enduring family line, way beyond what David had imagined.
David’s prayer was: “Lord, let it be established forever; do as You have promised.”
Mary’s Prayer of Submission
When the angel Gabriel told Mary she would be the mother of Jesus, her whole world changed.
Yet, she submitted with these words: “Let it be to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38)
That’s the heart of powerful prayer—praying God’s Word back to Him and trusting it will come to pass.
Reflect
Is praying God’s Word part of your prayer life? What would encourage you to pray this way more often?
A Prayer for Today
Lord Jesus, thank You for sending the Spirit of truth. Guide me into all truth, and help me pray as the Spirit leads, so I may glorify You. Amen.
