Perfect Harmony Between Spirit and Word
Today, let’s look at how the Spirit of God and the Word of God work together—always perfectly in harmony. They never contradict each other; they have complete intimacy and agreement.
Creation Shows Us the Way
Psalm 33:6 says, “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.”
That “breath” is actually the Hebrew word for Spirit. So, creation came through two partners: God’s Word and God’s Spirit. They worked side by side, neither acting alone.
Genesis Shows the Same Picture
In Genesis 1:2–3, we see the Spirit of God hovering over the dark waters—the first Godhead person mentioned in Scripture is the Holy Spirit.
Then God spoke, “Let there be light,” and light appeared.
The Spirit prepared the stage, and the Word brought life. Together, they made creation possible.
How This Applies to You and Me
This is exactly how God works in our lives today—His Word and His Spirit together. Never one without the other.
Reflect
God’s work in us happens through His Word and Spirit in harmony. As you seek to be led by the Holy Spirit, how do you connect with God’s Word?
A Prayer for Today
Holy God, Your Word is empowered by Your Spirit. Help me understand how perfectly they work together. I want that harmony in my life—a balance between reading Your Word and listening to Your Spirit. Amen.
