DAY 6 – Jesus: The True Image & Our Example
by Pastor Dick
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created… all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. — Colossians 1:15–17 (NIV)
The Image of the Invisible God
From the very beginning, humanity was made to reflect God’s image. We were created to be His representatives on earth.
But sin – well, it’s a bit like smudging a mirror. It damaged the perfect reflection of God’s goodness.
Then comes Jesus. Paul tells us Christ is the exact image of the invisible God – a clear window into God’s heart, character, and love.
If you want to see God, you look at Jesus—Immanuel, “God with us”—God made visible and touchable.
The Meaning of “Firstborn”
Calling Jesus “the firstborn over all creation” doesn’t mean He was created like the first kid in a family.
No, Jesus is eternal. Remember His bold words: “Before Abraham was, I AM.”
Here “firstborn” means supreme, preeminent, the top of the class. Jesus isn’t just part of creation—He’s the Lord over all creation.
Creator and Sustainer
Everything exists because of Him and for Him. He holds it all together!
As John said, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…
"Through Him all things were made.” And the kicker? “The Word became flesh and lived among us.”
The invisible God came walking the earth in Jesus.
Our Example to Follow
Jesus reveals not just who God is, but what true humanity is about. He is the perfect image-bearer.
As followers, we are called to reflect Him, be shaped by His Spirit, and live under His leadership.
His Spirit is inside us—our guide, strength, and light in the dark.
Ambassadors of Reconciliation
God reconciled all things through Jesus, making peace through His blood.
That same Spirit now works within us, making us ambassadors of peace to the world.
Our lives should shine with His love, peace, and truth.
Reflection Questions
What does it mean to you that Jesus is “the image of the invisible God” and “firstborn over all creation”?
How are you reflecting Christ in your daily life?
Who might God be leading you to share His peace and love with? Pray for courage to be His ambassador.
