DAY 30 – Showing & Sharing the Things of God by Pastor Dick

“Now when this epistle is read among you, see that it is read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.”—Colossians 4:16 (NKJV)

The Joy of Passing the Good Stuff Along

Well friends, as Paul wraps up his letter, he hits us with a simple but brilliant instruction—not just keep these words to yourself, but let them travel!

Share this letter with the folks in Laodicea. And hey, make sure you get to read their letter too.

Nine miles might’ve seemed far back then, but I’d guess Paul would have been a fan of group texts if he could’ve pulled it off.

Shown…then Shared

Here’s God’s pattern, clear as day: we’re shown the things of God, and then—ready or not—we’re called to share them.

Back then, believers didn’t keep these letters stuffed in a drawer. Nope, they read them out loud—probably standing-room-only at church potlucks—and everybody left with something new to chew on.

Fast forward almost 2,000 years: now we have the whole Bible, ready to read, learn from, and—like a casserole at a fellowship dinner—pass on to somebody else.

It’s Bigger than the Gospel

Sharing isn’t just about the “big” moments, like preaching a sermon or giving the Gospel out on the street corner (though there’s room for that!).

Sometimes, sharing God’s truth means talking about what He’s teaching you in your ordinary week—with your spouse, a grandkid, or the dear soul at the supermarket who just needs a warm hello.

No pressure to “go big” all the time—just start with what God is showing you today.

Start Close, Watch the Ripples Spread

If sharing feels scary, begin with family or close friends. Once it’s a habit, you’ll be amazed at how natural it feels to share with someone new.

I’ve seen God take one small story and ripple it out farther than I could plan—like tossing a pebble in a pond and watching the circles grow.

God Never Stops Revealing

God’s always up to something good! He just loves to show us new things about Himself—sometimes in a sunrise, sometimes in a struggle, sometimes over a slice of pie with a friend.

The key is to receive what He gives, then be ready to share it when He brings someone across your path.

Reflection Questions

  • What simple principle is behind Paul’s instruction in this verse?

  • How could you practice this kind of sharing this week?

  • Who might God be nudging you to share with—starting close, letting the ripple go out?

This month, look for little ways to show and share what God is teaching you. You never know whose life might change because you obeyed.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your Word. Help me take it in fully—and share it joyfully. Open my eyes to those around me who need Your encouragement. Use me to sprinkle Your truth everywhere I go. Amen.
