DAY 26 – Make Every Moment Count by Pastor Dick
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. — Colossians 4:5–6 (NIV)
Living Wisdom in Everyday Moments
You’ve probably heard the saying, “Make the most of life.” But Paul’s idea here is a little different.
It’s not about chasing after fun or things, but about living wisely for God and for others.
Those everyday moments? They’re chances—real opportunities—to show God’s love and draw people closer to Him.
How we act and speak matters greatly because we’re like God’s hands and feet, planting seeds of hope wherever we go.
Speak with Grace
Paul tells us to let our conversations be “full of grace.” Imagine if every chat you had left someone feeling loved, respected, and heard.
That’s what Paul calls us to — kindness, empathy, and respect wrapped neatly in our words.
Season Your Words Like Salt
Paul paints a tasty picture here—salt makes food better, right? It brings out the best flavors and keeps things fresh.
Likewise, our words can add something special to other people’s lives. When someone talks with you, they should leave with a good taste in their heart, something they might not even realize yet—that shining light of the gospel seen through our kindness and wisdom.
What Wisdom Truly Looks Like
Paul also reminds us to:
Be ready to do good.
Avoid gossip or slander.
Be peaceful and considerate.
Be gentle with everyone.
In a world full of anger and harsh words, let’s be shining lights of grace, drawing others toward Jesus.

What do you think Paul means when he says, “make the most of every opportunity”?
Before your next conversation with someone who doesn’t know Jesus, pause and ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom, peace, and the right words to share His love.

Lord, fill me with Your life today. Help me live wisely, speak kindly, and make every moment count. Let my words be full of grace and love. Use me to bring hope and light wherever I go. Amen.
