DAY 12 – Who is Jesus Christ by Pastor Dick

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. — Colossians 2:9–10 (NIV)

Christ: Fully God and Fully Man

It’s a big truth, folks. Jesus isn’t part God, part man, or some kind of spiritual hybrid. He is 100% God and 100% man.

That’s what theologians call the mystery of the incarnation—God becoming human without losing an ounce of divinity.

Paul tells us Jesus is “the image of the invisible God”—the perfect expression of God’s heart and character.

If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus. He’s Immanuel—“God with us”—not just back then, but right here, right now.

Why This Truth Matters

The early church wrestled with this too. Some claimed Jesus was just a good man or only divine in some distant cosmic way.

Others thought He became divine at baptism or resurrection. But Paul is clear: If Jesus wasn’t God all along, He couldn’t have truly saved us by dying for our sins.

He needed a real body to die on that cross and a real divinity to conquer death. It’s both God and man working together in perfect harmony.

Why It’s More Than Just History

Even today, people sometimes reduce Jesus to a great teacher or moral example. Nice enough, but that doesn’t change lives or forgive sins.

Only the true God-man can do that. If Jesus were just a teacher, He couldn’t save us. If just a man, His sacrifice wouldn’t hold power over death.

But because He is fully God and fully man, He paved the way for forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life.

In Christ We Are Complete

Paul reminds us that in Christ, we have everything we need. Salvation, new life, strength through the Spirit, adoption into God’s family—all are found in Him alone.

He’s not partly God, partly Savior—He is fully Lord over all.

Reflection Questions

  • Why is it so crucial that Jesus is both fully divine and fully human?

  • In a world full of opinions, how can you stand firm in the truth and gently correct false views?

  • Remember 1 Peter 3:15-16: Be ready to explain the hope you have, but do it with gentleness and respect. Pray for courage and wisdom to share the truth about Christ.
