Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest. – Mark 6:31
Resting like Jesus Did.
Let me confess: there are days when I feel I could solve the world’s problems—if I could just find my pillow first. Even Jesus, with disciples bustling around and crowds pressing in, sometimes said, “Let’s rest.”
Rest Isn’t Laziness, It’s Obedience
For years, I thought I had to earn rest. But God gives it as a gift, not a reward.
There’s a reason He built Sabbath into creation—He knew we’d try to do it all ourselves. Sometimes the holiest thing you can do is trade your to-do list for a good nap.
God Works While We Rest
When we rest, we practice trust. It’s like saying, “Lord, You keep the universe running. I’ll just be over here obeying You—snoring softly.”
Peace grows in hearts that know when to work and when to let go.
So, don’t feel guilty about recharging. Even Jesus napped in a storm. If He did, maybe it’s time we followed His example.
Questions to Ponder:
Do I make time for real rest, or do I run myself ragged?
What would it look like to trust God enough to pause today—even for a short nap?
