Jesus My Hope

The day the phone call came and only one truth kept me breathing

The call came at 1:00 p.m.

Cindy’s voice shook just enough to tell me everything before she said a word.

Cancer.

I hung up and the floor rushed up to meet me.

Everything spun.

Tomorrow dissolved.

I dropped to my knees with nothing left but one ragged whisper:

“Jesus… please…”

And in that collapse, one line rose up, quiet but certain, the way you speak to a terrified child:

“Truly my soul finds rest in God alone…

He is my rock… my fortress… I will never be shaken.” (Psalm 62:1-2)

Not “I might not be shaken.”

Not “I hope I won’t be shaken.”

I will never be shaken. Because my hope isn’t a feeling.

My hope isn’t a prognosis.

My hope is a Person.

Jesus Doesn’t Give Me Hope—He IS My Hope

Paul doesn’t say “Christ Jesus, the source of our hope.”

He says, “Christ Jesus our hope.” (1 Timothy 1:1)

And again:

“Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27)

He’s already moved in.

He didn’t hand me hope like a get-well card.

He became it. Some mornings the sky is iron-gray,

chemo dripping cold,

bills stacked like accusations.

But the Sun is still blazing ninety-three million miles away,

and not one cloud can vote Him out of existence.

His light leaks through the blinds,

stripes the hospital bed,

warms Cindy’s hand in mine.

That’s Jesus inside a believer.

Circumstances don’t cancel the Son.

When You Feel Shaken, You Still Won’t Fall

David wrote “I will never be shaken”

while running for his life,

and hiding in caves. I’ve felt the earthquake.

But I have not been shaken off the Rock. He absorbs the impact.

I stay standing because He will not move.

Whisper It With Me Right Now

If you’re bone-weary today,

say it out loud or under your breath—whatever you’ve got left:

“Jesus, You are my hope.

This breath.

This tear.

This moment.”

He’s near enough to hear.

Near enough to hold.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Thank You for moving out of the pages and into us.

Be the living hope beating in every weary heart reading this.

When fear shouts, let Your presence roar louder.

Hold us so tightly the world can see we’re already held.

We love You.

We rest in You.

Amen.

You are not alone.

Your hope has scars in His hands.

And He Won't Let Go.
