Delivered from Fear

Turn your face toward the light — and you'll reflect what you see.
Turn your face toward the light — and you'll reflect what you see.

Not a Theory — a Testimony

This isn't theology. This isn't a creed someone memorized. This is a man in real trouble — dangerous, desperate trouble — telling you what happened when he turned to God.

"I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame." (Psalm 34:4–5, NIV)

David didn't write that in a comfortable study. He wrote it on the other side of a situation that could have destroyed him. And his testimony is simple: I called out. God answered. And He delivered me from all my fears.

Not some.

All.

The Fear That Gnaws

Are you oppressed with fear right now? I think the majority of people in our culture today have some kind of fear that gnaws at them. It sits in the background. It steals your peace. You may not even be able to name it, but it's there — and it's heavy.

Why not try David's remedy? He didn't manage his fear. He didn't push through it. He sought the Lord. He prayed. And God delivered him. It worked for David. It will work for you.

You Reflect What You Look At

Now look at what David says next: "Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame."

There's a deep principle here. Whatever you look at, you reflect. Stare into the darkness long enough and your face will show it — somber, heavy, weighed down. But turn your eyes upward to the Lord, who is the light, and something changes. Your face becomes radiant. Not because you tried harder. Because you looked in the right direction.

And the Scripture says you will never be ashamed. Never be disappointed. The Lord will never let you down.

Why Not Try That?

Call out to Him. Ask Him to deliver you. And look to Him — so that your face may be radiant with His light.

Prayer Response

Father, I come to You like David did — with fears that gnaw at me and steal my peace. I seek You now. Deliver me from all my fears. Turn my eyes to Your light so that my face reflects You. I trust that You will never let me down. In Jesus' name, amen.
