God’s Treasure in Everyday People
Let's look at something Paul mentioned that always leaves me speechless. In 2 Corinthians 4:7, he writes: “We have this treasure in earthen vessels.”
Now, think of it like this—imagine stuffing a pile of gold into a plain old grocery bag. Doesn’t seem very secure, does it?
That's exactly how God works—He places something priceless, Jesus Himself, within everyday people like us!
What’s the Treasure? Who’s the Jar?
It’s pretty simple: Jesus is the treasure, and we’re the jars. We’re not made of fancy stuff—we’re clay pots, sometimes chipped, even a little cracked around the edges.
(I know I am!) And yet that’s exactly how God wants it. When we’re weak, His power really stands out. He gets all the credit.
Real Life Isn’t Always Easy
Paul knew tough times—he talks about it right after that verse. We feel pressed, confused, worn out, knocked down…but we’re not wiped out.
Why? Because Jesus lives inside us, holding us steady, no matter how wild the storm gets.
Remember what God told Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9? “My grace is enough; my power shows up best in weakness.”
Now that ought to ease your mind a bit. You don’t have to be Superman for God to use you.
God Shapes Us Like Clay
There’s more. In Jeremiah 18, God is pictured as a potter, forming clay on a wheel.
Sometimes, life feels like we’re just a lump being squished and re-shaped, and we don’t know what’s coming next.
But that’s God at work, making something beautiful out of our mess.
The Light Still Shines
Don’t forget this, too—John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can’t snuff it out.”
When life feels dark, Jesus’ light shines even stronger. Sometimes, it’s those cracks in our clay pots where His light leaks out for others to see.
Let God Shine Through You
Here's the exciting part: Embrace your imperfections and don't stress about not being perfect! You're not meant to be an indestructible jar.
Allow God to work through you, imperfections included, to demonstrate His amazing love and power!
Remember, the best part of you isn’t how strong you are. The best part is the treasure you’re carrying—Jesus Himself, alive in you. And those cracks you feel? That’s where the light gets out.
Blessings from my heart to yours, Cindy.
