A Problem We Couldn’t Fix

For almost a year, my husband Dick had a painful wound on his back that would not heal.

We tried so many things—doctor visits, wound center appointments, daily bandage changes and cleaning. Still, nothing worked. It was discouraging, and caring for him sometimes felt heavy on my heart.

Asking God for Help

One morning, I found myself sitting at the kitchen table, tired and praying with all my heart. “Lord, what’s going on here?”

I asked, confused and desperate for an answer. Right then, I felt the Lord whisper a single word to me: “Water.”

A Simple Step of Faith

If you know Dick, you know he’s never liked drinking water. But that day, we chose faith. Dick started drinking eight glasses of water every day—even though it was hard for him.

We held onto hope, expecting God to do something.

The Miracle Unfolds

In just two weeks, Dick’s wound was healed. When we went back to the wound center, his doctor was amazed.

The healing was so clear, and the only change had been Dick’s water intake. The doctor even said the water was the reason!

God’s Wisdom at Work

This story isn’t just about health; it’s about how God gives practical wisdom and knowledge right when we need it most.

It wasn’t medical advice or human knowledge—it felt like the Lord shared His wisdom with us in that moment.

Here are some of the scriptures that taught me about God’s gift of wisdom and knowledge:

  • James 1:5 — If you lack wisdom, ask God, and He will give it generously.

  • Proverbs 2:6 — For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

  • Daniel 2:21–22 — God gives wisdom and reveals deep, hidden things.

  • 1 Corinthians 2:7 — God’s wisdom may look hidden, but He shares it with those who trust Him.

  • Proverbs 9:10 — Wisdom begins with knowing the Lord.

  • Ecclesiastes 2:26 — God gives wisdom and joy to those who please Him.

  • Isaiah 33:6 — Wisdom and knowledge are the stability of your times.

A Lesson for Us All

I’ll never forget the day God gave us the word “water.” Dick’s healing was a miracle, but even more, it was proof that God cares about every part of our lives.

He gives wisdom and knowledge to us when we ask—even for things that seem small or simple.

So when you’re facing something tough, take time to ask Him for help. You never know how He might answer!
