Cast' Doesn't Mean Hand Over Gently. It Means Throw Hard

Cast your burden on the LORD." We've heard that verse our whole lives. But here's what I just learned: "Cast" doesn't mean gently hand over.

It means throw hard. Like a quarterback under pressure—plant your feet, wind up, and HURL it.

I’m talking about the invisible loads we women carry—worry about our kids, fear about tomorrow, hurt from words that cut deep, the weight of “I should have…” or “What if…”.

Been there, done that.

I've spent so many nights wide awake, with my heart racing and my mind going in circles, trying to solve things I just can't fix.

Then God reminded me of this promise:

Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

(Psalm 55:22) “Cast” means throw hard.

Not a gentle hand-off.

A full-arm, get-it-off-me fling. Picture a quarterback under pressure.

Defenders closing in.

He plants his feet, winds up, and hurls the ball with everything he’s got.

No holding back.

Because he trusts the receiver. Now picture God as the ALL-TIME GREATEST RECEIVER.

He never drops a pass.

Every burden you throw—big worries, small ones, ugly ones—He catches clean.

Perfect hands. That image is tattooed on my eyelids now.

Because I’ve learned (the hard way and the grace way) that our part is the cast.

Cast the burden.

If we hold on—even a little—the weight stays.

No throw → no catch.

But when we let go completely, trusting the Receiver, then His strength flows.

Then peace comes.

Then we can breathe again. God doesn’t just take the burden.

He sustains us—holds us up from underneath.

He is our daily strength.

And He promises: the righteous (that’s us in Christ Jesus) will not be shaken forever. So today, what burden are you carrying that was never meant for you? Name it.

Feel its weight for a moment.

Then throw it—hard—as far as you can. He’s waiting.

Arms open.

Ready to catch. Cast your burden, He’s holding you.

Love,

Cindy
